Great book but some parts out of date

This book was very helpful. I also bought Java, How to program. I had never written a program using Java. I do have a lot of experience with object oriented programing. There were a number of examples that need to be modified so that they would compile. This is because the industry has changed some requirements. Nevertheless the information was very valuable. Deitel does a great job in explaining what is going on. That is very helpful. There were a few places that I have not yet conquered, but expect to shortly. The book also goes deeply into areas that I knew nothing about. I am definitely glad that I bought this book.
