Timing for Animation Review by lighten_up_already2
I may never watch cartoons the same way again.
I'm not an animator, but I do watch cartoons, and this book makes me appreciate them more. It takes a lot of thought to animate even simple movements, and this book gives the animator a guide to what to think about when animating many different movements of objects, people, and animals.
The material is organized into page-sized chunks of guidance covering many different timing problems, from people lifting things to horses galloping to the movement of fire and water splashing. It almost made me glad I don't draw cartoons for a living, but I may end up doing some frame-by-frame viewing with the DVD player to see how some of the principles are put into action.
