C++ for Dummies Review by happyguy

I'm a C++ programming fool instead of a dummy now!

When I started programming computers they were made of stone and the mouse was a hammer and chisel. Beginners All-purpose Instruction Code (BASIC) was the neatest language around and FORTRAN (formula-translation) was all the way up to version IV. I programed a TRS-80 to say "HELLO BOB" at every Radio Shack I entered and actually managed to land the lunar module on the moon once without smashing it into a million pieces!
Well, time and miles separated me from computers till I retired from my real job and bought an HP do-it-all. Waking up in the real world was not a plesant experience. Nobody knew what a line number was and object orented programming seems to be as common as a cold.
Enter C++ for Dummies. I bought the book, put the disk in my computer, and crashed the whole system! Fortunately for me the author provided an email address, and within a week he had me back up and running C++ code like I had been programming for years. The book is not perfect, few are, but if you want the basics and can deal with "Hello World" as a kickoff, it gets the job done very nicely.
