Version Control with Subversion Review by Patrick Goetz

If only all technical books were this well written!

This book is a superb introduction/reference to Subversion. I read a lot of technical books, and this one went down smoothly, with explanations that are as brief as possible, but not too brief, as Einstein would recommend. A very enjoyable read. I particularly liked the observation that there are top-down and bottom-up learners: "A top-down learner prefers to read or skim documentation, getting a large overview of how the system works; only then does she actually start using the software. A bottom-up learner is a 'learn by doing' person--someone who just wants to dive into the software and figure it out as she goes, referring to book sections when necessary" and the (I think) successful effort to cater to both audiences (as a top-down learner, I can only speak definitively for this group).
