Introduction to Algorithms, Second Edition Review by Rajit Pratesh

Good, but overrated

This is "THE" algorithms book - the one that every CS student (including me) has had to read since, well, forever.

It's great in certain aspects - you learn a ton, and there are problems are tough. Very tough.

However, some of the problems are a bit tough, and you also have to be careful about your goals in reading it. I just it a bit to prepare for an interview, and it just wasn't very helpful. No one asks you anything from this book.

So I guess my conclusion is this: read it to learn a lot, but not necessary to help you do better on a job (or a job interview). It's just not that practical.

And my advice to the authors for future editions is to think more about giving relevant, real world problems.
