Windows Server 2003 Pocket Administrator Review by Amozarte

More of a task-planner than a reference guide

This book has some very detailed information but does assume a healthy level of proficiency with administering a Windows server.

This book would be best suited for someone who is already a server administrator, is proficient at administrative tasks, but wants to better organise his or her life. The book details just about every task you might want to incorporate into your administrative routine and offers advice on when & how often to perform each task. It also provides a few best practises for those tasks.

What it is NOT is a reference or how-to for problems you might encounter when peforming your routine tasks. When I hear "pocket" in the title, I think of something I can carry with me and refer to as I encounter trouble in my daily tasks. If you're looking for that type of guide, you may wish to look further.

Please don't misunderstand- this book accomplishes its objective. My concern is only that the title may be a little misleading as to what that objective is. While this book certainly serves a useful purpose, it simply may not be as widely useful as other books about server administration.
