UML Distilled: A Brief Guide to the Standard Object Modeling Language (2nd Edition) Review by Mathieu LP
A brief guide to the standard? I agree!
I bought this book a year ago as a reference book and I used it like that. It was a good purchase for me at the time because I was new in Software Engineering and my UML level was beginner.
But now that I have done two years in my program, the book is now a little too brief for me. Fortunately, the author is aware of that and suggest few other books for advance people, like the Larman's book: "Applying UML and Patterns" which I read as well.
It's still good for someone in my situation to read the book because the author give his opinion about UML and how we should use it. Some people don't like subjective book, but Martin Fowler as one of the big workers on UML language, you might want to have his opinion about it!
So, if you are a beginner on UML or if you want to have a general idea about it, this is a good book for you.
If you are experienced with UML, you might find that you already know the UML concept discussed in this book, but you could find interesting opinion if you read it at least once.
