Microsoft ASP.NET Setup and Configuration Pocket Reference (Developers Pocket Consultants) Review by Troy Parsons

Delivers nothing over the docs

I got this book on the cheap, and for that I'm thankful.

This book is little more than a re-hash of the existing MSDN documentation. And as far as being a pocket reference, well it's not that small, and a good deal of the size/weight is wasted on guff in my opinion. If there were an O'Reilly equivalent, it would be a third the size and at least thrice as useful. (Any one who has read or owns one of the O'Reilly pocket reference series will scoff at this book.)

I find this book marginally useful not having to look up the MSDN documentation - so if you're working on configuring new servers and surfing the net is not an option you may find this handy. But the content lacks, the writing style is poor, and the examples are not particularly helpful.

Not a succinct pocket reference.
