The first part of this book covers HTML 3.2, including the basic tags and topics are more advanced such as frames and cascading style sheets. Tutorials for HTML comparable to those in other books of this category and includes some tips the author to make more portable HTML. The following section contains the basics of Java from a programmer's point of view, including the benefits of Java and how to access Java documentation and equipment. The chapter on graphics double-buffering for smooth animation within Java programs is very useful, and treatment of authors about how to access the network capabilities of Java may be unparalleled. (Topics include how to load URLs using Java class network and even how to make a simple HTTP server in Java.) The third part of this text moves to CGI programming using Java on the server. Although this section does not have a discussion of Perl (which is still preferred language for CGI development), treatment of CGI fundamentals and the basics of Java servlets is good.
