The author presents in detail the mathematical background and comnputational of algorithms and statistical models used and developed algorithms allowing the exploitation of prosodic information at various levels of speech understanding, such as syntax, semantics, dialogue, and translation. Then he studied the integration of this algorithm in a speech translation system VERBMOBIL-to-speech and dialog system EVAR and analyze the results.
