To maintain, control, and improve image quality, it is important for image acquisition, management, communication and processing system to identify and quantify the degradation of image quality. The purpose of this book are as follows: a) to introduce the basics of image quality assessment, and explain the relevant engineering problems, b) to provide a broad treatment of the country when-the-art in image quality assessment, by describing leading algorithms that handle engineering problems, and c) to provide new direction for future research, by introducing new models and paradigms that significantly differ from those used in the past. This book was written to be accessible by the students wanted to know about the-art state-of-the-image quality assessment, expert industrial R & D engineers want to apply the image / video quality assessment system for specific applications, and interested academic theory to develop new algorithms for image quality assessment or use an existing algorithm to optimize the design of image processing or other applications.
