Many challenging problems in information systems engineering involves the manipulation of complex metadata artifacts or models, such as database schema, interface specification, or a graphic object, and mapping between models. The goal of generic model management is to reduce the number of programs needed to address these problems by providing the database infrastructure where a set of high level algebraic operators applied to the model and mapping as a whole rather than individual building blocks. This book presents a systematic study of the concepts and algorithms for generic model management.
