Studies of attention in this laboratory is very important to understand the mechanisms that support various aspects of attentional processing: Our ability to divide attention between multiple tasks and stimuli, and selectively focus on task-relevant information, while ignoring the annoying task-irrelevant information, and how top-down and bottom-up factors that influence the way that attention is directed within and across modalities.
