The second part consists of three case studies: managing micro city network, manage network service provider, and managing GigaPoP Internet2 network. The third section discusses the future direction of network management. It looks at current research activities in network management, current practices in the field, the problem of combining research and practice, and finally discusses the direction towards a comprehensive network management system.
