This course is a review of what is known about modeling human speech recognition (HSR). It seems there are a large number of theories, or point of view, about how the human voice recognition function, but some of these theories are comprehensive. What is needed is a set of models supported by experimental observations, that characterize how the human voice recognition actually works. One way to do this is to build a machine recognizer based on reverse engineering of human recognition.
