This book focuses on research progress in the approach to combine the explicit handling of uncertainty, especially by fuzzy sets, to overcome the geographical problems. Not only has there are many studies large enough to incorporate fuzzy sets in geographic information systems (GIS) to support geographic problem solving, but the uncertainties inherent in modeling geographic problems have been addressed by using methods of soft computing. This book has two purposes. One is to stimulate further research both in theory and application of fuzzy sets for spatial information management and geographic problem-solving.
