It takes familiar Internet network and machine names (like "amazon.com") and convert them to the Internet (IP) address of the Protocol (such as "208.35.218.15") that are meaningful to routers and therefore useful to identify the machine you want to achieve. What is amazing is that DNS enables someone in Germany to refer, by name, to a computer in Mongolia even if no one in Germany who has gained access to previously remote machine. By Paul Albitz and Cricket Liu, now in fourth revision, has long been regarded as a classic among systems administrators and network architects, particularly those with a bent Unix. The fourth edition particularly update: The authors have added coverage of incremental and conditional zone transfer with BIND's new features NOTIFY, and Transaction Signatures (TSIG), and DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) Wall. - David Topics covered: The Domain Naming System (DNS) and how it is implemented by BIND (through versions 8.2.3 and 9.1.0), how to make BIND, how to configure the MX records for mail service, parent and child domain, NOTIFY , and DNS security.
