Windows XP for Dummies does a good job in his role as the superior of the Dummies line, providing Windows novices with a guided introduction to the latest operating system and Microsoft's most feature rich for everyday computer users. If you're a Windows novice - meaning you do not know how to undelete files that have been sent to the Recycle Bin, or what web browser, or what it means to "cut and paste" text - you will get more work out of Rathbone's. Some aspects of this book could be better, as part of the chapter network that requires an Ethernet hub without noting that the change, although probably more expensive, would do a better job, without additional complexity. But that said - and Rathbone does not limit a lot of things that are really basic to a skinny introductory chapter - this book is a boon for people who are not familiar with Windows XP or a direct predecessor (including Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Me) Wall. David - Topics covered: Microsoft Windows XP for the person who was not familiar with the operating system and other latest version of Windows.
