To some extent this book is a collection of recipes in that describe the weaknesses in Linux (calling attention to specific distributions where appropriate). The point is not, "This is exactly the way down the server via an ACK storm," but instead, "Here is how to defend against such problems." They showed a lot of weaknesses, though, as in their coverage of the conversation that goes back and forth between an FTP server and its clients. This book covers almost everything you want to do with Linux machines as network servers.
