This book contains a collection of texts centered on the evaluation of image retrieval system. Individual chapters in this book highlights the main issues and challenges in evaluating the image capture system and describes the various initiatives that provide researchers with the resources necessary evaluation. In particular they describe the activities in ImageCLEF, an initiative to evaluate the image retrieval system of cross-language which has been running as part of the Cross Language Evaluation Forum (clef) since 2003. To this end, the editors collect donations from various people: those who are involved directly with ImageCLEF, as organizers of specific shots or annotation task, participants who have developed techniques to overcome the challenges set by the organizers, and people from industry and academics involved with the search image and evaluation in general. This provides the reader with a clear ideas about information search and evaluation in the context and domains such as health, vision, robotics, photography press, and the Web.
