This book is intended to assist State and local law enforcement and other first respondent who may be responsible for preserving an electronic crime scene and to identify, collect, and maintain digital evidence. All crime scenes are unique and assessment of the first respondent, the protocol agent, and prevailing technology should all be considered when applying the information in this guide. First of respondents to an electronic crime scene had to adjust their practices as a state - including level of experience, conditions, and available equipment - a state crime scene warrant.The individuals and Federal, State, and local laws may specify a particular sequence of action or other action other than those described in this guide.
