Although the core of the SQL language that remains relatively unchanged, the latest release of the SQL standard (SQL: 2008) includes two sets of extensions: 1) support for object-relational database and 2) support for XML. While all content will be updated if necessary, the existing organizational structure through a chapter 14 will remain intact for most of this coverage is a stable part of the SQL language. There will be two NEW chapters at the beginning of this book. Chapter 1 ("The Relational Data Model") covers the conceptual material relational data model, Chapter 2 ("Manipulating Relationships with Relational Algebra") cover relational algebra material will be drawn from the chapter-making. Section 5 ("Non-relational SQL Extensions") will now include non-relational SQL extensions in three chapters. Chapter 18 will contain the object-relational conceptual material from the original chapter 15 and chapter 19 (NEW) will include support for object-relational SQL. (Some of the chapter 19 will come from the second edition, however, many object-relational support has been added to the current standard and therefore need to be added.) Another New Chapter is Chapter 14, which includes triggers and stored procedures.
