The author discusses five historical groups or communities of practice, which all have similar ambitions with Wikipedia to make an impact on society of their time through the dissemination of information. The second part is an analysis of the Wikipedia itself, and the third section contains advice on how to approach, how to contribute and what might benefit from it. Writing in a style accessible to the author take the socio-historical approach and believes that by looking at community practices in the past we can come to understand, even radical politics, the nature of Wikipedia.

I'm not saying that the rest of my groups idea is bad, but 8 seconds on wikipedia has proved that it doesn't work and mine is superior.
