This book contains basically all the ingredients first edition, but the author states that because there is so much new work, published in the error-correcting codes, the preparation of this second edition proved to be a much bigger task than writing the original book. The main addition of chapters on majority-logic code, synchronization, and convolution code. Many new materials have also been added into the chapters on important linear block codes and cyclic codes. The authors cite several highly regarded books on the latest work done in Eastern Europe and an extensive library of coding theory in the Soviet Union [sic].
