Functional programming is a programming style that emphasizes the use of functions (different from object-oriented programming, which emphasizes the use of objects). Instead of using the (boring) mathematical examples commonly found in conventional textbooks of other programming languages, the author uses examples from multimedia applications, including graphics, animation, and computer music, so profitable reader with working programs for inherently more interesting applications.
