Most adults in the UK read a local newspaper; regional news bulletin is one of the most watched on television and local radio have loyal followers. But despite being good, popular and political importance of local media is often overlooked on media-related programs and in discussions about the role of media in contemporary society. "Understanding the Local Media" addresses this gap by explaining how regional newspapers and news broadcasts are owned, managed and orderly; how these factors produce the output we see and hear, what we know about the attitude of viewers' to them, and discuss the local media as a workplace.
