Our task is challenging because of the fact that, instead of single optimal solution, multiple objective optimization results in a number of solutions with different trade-offs with the criteria, also known as Pareto optimal or efficient solutions. Clearly, research and applications in multiple objective optimization involves expertise in optimization and decision support. State-survey-the-art derived from the International Seminar on Practical Approaches to multiple objective optimization, held in Dagstuhl Castle, Germany, in December 2006, which brings together experts from various fields of contemporary optimization objective compound, including multiple objective optimization evolution (EMO), multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) and multiple criteria decision-assist (MCDA).
