McClelland, Center for Neural Basis of Cognition Since World War II, a group of scientists have tried to understand the human nervous system and to build computer systems that mimic the ability of the brain. Many early workers in the field of neural tissue derived from cybernetics; others come from neuroscience, physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, psychology, even economics. In a collection of interviews, those who helped shape the field share their childhood memories, their influence, how they became interested in neural networks, and what they see as the future. Subject to tell stories that have been told, called, whispered about, and imagine the history of the field. Together, they tell the story of how science is actually done, including a false start, and the Darwinian struggle for jobs, resources, and reputation. Although some of the interviews contain technical material, there is no actual math in this book.
